The cross over to answered prayer

 

How eventually and maybe even today do we get to the place of answered prayer?

 

Isaiah Chapter 11 verses 15 and 16 read as follows from the NIV version of the Bible:

15 The LORD will dry up
   the gulf of the Egyptian sea;
with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand
   over the Euphrates River.
He will break it up into seven streams
   so that anyone can cross over in sandals.
16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people
   that is left from Assyria,
as there was for Israel
   when they came up fromEgypt.

 

“So that anyone can cross over in sandals.”

 

That is making it real simple.

Anyone can cross over in sandals is a vision of answers that can be had.

This is symbolic of how if the Lord wants to give paths that are quite doable and workable.

And this is part of the process of prayer where you do want to listen for, attend to and look for the cross over which if of the Lord’s doing will be simple and easy, and part of the job of receiving the answer is to see it this way and not to see the cross over involving issues of fear, lack of confidence and lack of faith that this is going to work and going to happen if I procee 

But also very important is the revealing of what is behind the actions of the Lord in brings about this cross over, and this is the “scorching wind” which symbolizes the passion of the Lord for you and your life.

.What the Lord wants to do for you, is done out of a personal passion for you.

Lot’s of time in prayer, it gets to the point where we are like beggars just hoping to break through, get heard and get some sort of favorable response.

But this is not the reality of the source of grace we might be tapping into.

The sandals in these verses go to the answer that is for him or her that walks in these shoes and him or her that will be crossing over into this great answer. 

The “scorching wind” is a representation of passion. .

There is such a thing as passion.

Sometimes it can be seen between two people. Sometimes passion can be for a cause, a project, a career that means a great deal.

But here in these verses from Isaiah the call to walk cross over and the means to do that is occurring out of the powerful workings of the passion of the Lord for one individual, several individuals or many individuals but as sandals indicates it is being directed individually.

The praying person might be cowering in fear before the Lord, half hoping for some sort of answer, instead of believing and knowing that the Lord passionately wishes to do what he will do for you.

But the call of the prayer relationship can and does go to the call of passion within the prayer relationship.

And this is a two way street.

The Lord is coming across with passion first and wishes you to begin to match with it and to it.

We see this in cases when the Lord takes the initiative in being the first mover in something or somewhere he passionately wants for us.

 

When these signs come, it is best understand as a leading of the Spirit to be followed and it is not a lukewarm situation.

The Lord has a very strong desire to give what he wishes to give to you.

And he wants to deal with you at the level of passion.

Revelation 3.15 says,

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!

The place of being lukewarm was not the place to be in the presence of the Lord in deed and in prayer.

Being lukewarm has aspects of relative indifference and a pointed lack of passion. Even being cold was better is that it was an inverted form of passion.

There wouldn’t be complaints like that in Scripture if the Lord was not in fact revealing that he is passionate for the individual and what he desires for the individual.

The place of prayer can and should be the place of passion.

We see mention in other places of Bible of the jealousy of the Lord which is indicative of a passion for the relationship that he doesn’t want compromised.

This is not always or necessarily an outer show of emotion, but more so maybe a gaze of the inner person upon the Lord and his graces and it arises out of an increasing closeness that can be found in the personal prayer relationship.

But this passion can manifest in outright miraculous ways as in these verses where the Lord is creating easy to follow great paths that can be cross over into in ways that heretofore had seemed impossible and are now easy.

The other aspect to this in seeking answers from the Lord is not to always look too far ahead or way behind into the past as the passion manifests in answers that are point black here now, to be experienced now and to be crossed over into now in the glory of his graces, presence and passion for you and you alone in many cases of truly unique personal blessings.

 

 These special verses from Isaiah chapter 11 highlight the crossover to answered prayer, an answer even if given to many is given individually. Very important to this is the understanding that the actions of the Lord in bring this about are actually from his passion for you and while it is rather unimaginable that this is true, grasping upon this can help us better understand how prayer works and why we get answers to prayer.
